Canadian history needs to be made more exciting, more interactive, more “real.”

That's what these activities are designed for.

This is not a curriculum, but a set of activities designed to spark conversation and interest in different our history.

For each topic, I will share an activity or resource that you can use to get interactive with each moment of history. Some of them are creative, some are action based, some are printable, some involve research, and others are games that we’ve created for you. I had my kids helping me plan and test our ideas along the way. We had fun putting them all together for you.

Includes a printable travel journal and Canadian geography matching game.

This Canadian timeline tries to include most of the more important events in our history – ranging from pre-European arrival to the Confederation and all the way through to modern times.

I designed this particular timeline to be able to be used within a 3-ring binder or duotang, but it can be used in a wall format or other creative idea just as effectively.

The events of each century are broken down into their own section. Place the timeline for that time period facing each other in your binder. On the left, add the events from the 00-50s and add the events from 51-99s on the right.

Each event includes a title, an arrow to show the time frame, a short explanation of that event, and a graphic.

Print out these task cards and get your kids learning about the geography of Canada – one province or territory at a time.

All you need are these cards, some printed maps and pencil crayons / markers, a pencil, and some way to find the answers – an atlas, a website, or Great Uncle Bob. Whatever works best for you.

Label cities, oceans, lakes, rivers. Research agriculture and exports. Discover Indigenous treaties.

Just print and go.
